LEGO Lord of the Rings Minas Tirith Revealed – Biggest Middle-earth Set Ever Image

LEGO Has Finally Lit the Beacons: 11377 Minas Tirith Is the Biggest Lord of the Rings Set Ever

The beacons are lit. Gondor calls for aid. And LEGO collectors everywhere are currently checking their bank accounts, shelf space and, quite possibly, whether selling a kidney is technically allowed under BrickLink’s terms of service.

LEGO has officially revealed 11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith, and it is not just big. It is absurdly, gloriously, wallet-threateningly enormous. With 8,278 pieces, this is now the largest LEGO Lord of the Rings set ever released, overtaking previous Middle-earth heavyweights and placing itself firmly among LEGO’s most ambitious adult display models.

Set: LEGO Icons 11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith
Pieces: 8,278
Price: £579.99 / $649.99 / €649.99
Release: 1 June 2026 for LEGO Insiders, 4 June 2026 general release
Theme: LEGO Icons / The Lord of the Rings
Age Rating: 18+

The set recreates the legendary White City of Gondor from The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, combining a sweeping microscale city exterior with minifigure-scale interior details. LEGO describes the model as a hybrid-scale build, with the finished set measuring over 59 cm high, 62 cm wide and 37 cm deep.

In other words: clear the coffee table. Possibly the dining table. Maybe just move house.

What’s Included in LEGO 11377 Minas Tirith?

The new Minas Tirith set includes 10 minifigures:

  • Gandalf the White
  • Faramir
  • Denethor
  • Peregrin Took
  • Aragorn as King Elessar
  • Arwen
  • 4 Soldiers of Gondor

Plus Shadowfax, Gandalf’s horse

The minifigure line-up is already one of the most exciting parts of the reveal. Aragorn in his King Elessar outfit is a long-awaited version of the character, while Denethor, Faramir and Gondor soldiers add serious army-building and display appeal. LEGO also includes film-themed accessories such as Gondor helmets, shields and Aragorn’s crown.

The model itself is designed as a display centrepiece. From the front, you get the towering, tiered city carved into the mountainside. Turn it around, and the model reveals detailed interior sections, including the citadel’s throne room. Jay’s Brick Blog also notes that the model blends microscale architecture with minifigure-scale scenes, giving fans both the grandeur of Minas Tirith and places to pose key characters.

That’s clever. A fully minifigure-scale Minas Tirith would be roughly the size of a conservatory and probably require planning permission from your local council.

The Grond GWP Could Be the Real Early-Access Prize

LEGO Insiders will get early access from 1 June 2026, while the wider release begins on 4 June 2026. LEGO is also offering a LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: Grond gift-with-purchase for qualifying Minas Tirith purchases from 1–7 June 2026, while stocks last.

For collectors and investors, this is worth paying attention to.

Grond is not just a random side build. It is the giant battering ram used by Sauron’s forces during the siege of Minas Tirith. As a companion model, it pairs perfectly with the main set. As a limited-time GWP, it could also become one of those irritatingly expensive little extras that buyers suddenly decide they “need” once the main set retires.

We have seen this pattern before with high-demand LEGO GWPs: the value often comes not just from the build, but from how perfectly it completes the display. If Minas Tirith becomes a long-term Lord of the Rings grail set, Grond may become the “you really want it with the box” accessory.

Translation: if you are buying Minas Tirith on day one anyway, getting the GWP is probably the smart play.

Is Minas Tirith Better Than Rivendell?

That is the big question.

LEGO 10316 Rivendell set a ridiculously high bar when it launched. It had elegance, colour, minifigures, display presence and a kind of peaceful Tolkien magic that made it feel like a premium collector’s piece rather than just another large licensed set.

Minas Tirith is different. It is grander, colder, more architectural and more imposing. Rivendell is autumn leaves and Elvish poetry. Minas Tirith is white stone, siege engines and Denethor making deeply questionable lunch choices.

At 8,278 pieces, Minas Tirith is substantially larger than Rivendell, and it leans harder into sheer scale. It also feels more “monumental” as a display piece. That may make it incredibly attractive to adult collectors who want one huge, dramatic centrepiece from Middle-earth.

However, there is one obvious drawback: only 10 minifigures in a set this large and expensive. Some fans will feel that is a little light, especially when The Lord of the Rings has such a rich cast of characters. Jay’s Brick Blog also highlights that the set includes four Soldiers of Gondor, meaning several of the minifigure slots are army-builder duplicates.

From an investment perspective, though, exclusive minifigures can do a lot of heavy lifting. Aragorn as King Elessar, Denethor, Faramir and Gondor soldiers could all become desirable after retirement, especially if LEGO does not revisit Minas Tirith again for many years.

Investment View: Is LEGO Minas Tirith Worth Buying?

Let’s be honest: this is not a casual purchase. At £579.99 in the UK and $649.99 in the US, Minas Tirith is priced firmly in premium collector territory. LEGO has confirmed the general release date as 4 June 2026, with LEGO Insiders access from 1 June 2026.

But expensive does not automatically mean bad value.

From a LEGO investing point of view, Minas Tirith has several strong signals:

1. It is the biggest LEGO Lord of the Rings set ever
Size matters in the collector market. Huge flagship sets often become the defining release of a theme.

2. It is attached to a beloved franchise
The Lord of the Rings has long-term adult fan demand. This is not a short-lived trend or a one-season movie tie-in.

3. It has display power
Large adult display sets tend to perform better when they are instantly recognisable. Minas Tirith is one of the most iconic locations in the trilogy.

4. It includes desirable characters
King Elessar Aragorn, Denethor, Faramir and Gondor soldiers give the set minifigure appeal beyond the build itself.

5. The Grond GWP adds early buyer incentive
Limited companion GWPs can strengthen day-one demand and create a more complete collector package.

The main risk is the high entry price. At nearly £600, the pool of buyers is smaller. Storage is also a serious issue. This box is unlikely to be small, and if you are buying multiples as an investment, you will need space. Lots of space. “Explain this to your partner” levels of space.

Should You Buy Day One?

For builders and Lord of the Rings fans, day one makes sense if you want the Grond GWP. Missing the gift-with-purchase could be annoying later, especially if aftermarket prices climb.

For investors, the decision is trickier.

Large LEGO Icons sets can be excellent long-term holds, but they often stay on shelves for several years and sometimes see discounts later in their lifecycle. If Minas Tirith follows that pattern, the best investment entry point may not be launch day unless the GWP meaningfully offsets the premium.

A sensible strategy could be:

Buy one early if you personally want the set and the Grond GWP. For investment copies, wait for discounts, double points or cashback opportunities later in the set’s life.

That said, if Grond becomes genuinely scarce, early buyers may have the strongest complete package: sealed Minas Tirith plus sealed Grond. That bundle could be very attractive after retirement.

Final Thoughts: A True Middle-earth Monster

LEGO 11377 Minas Tirith feels like a statement release.

It is massive. It is dramatic. It is expensive. It is exactly the sort of set that makes adult LEGO fans say, “Absolutely not, that’s ridiculous,” before quietly measuring a shelf five minutes later.

For Lord of the Rings collectors, this could be one of the most important LEGO releases of the decade. It gives us a long-awaited Gondor centrepiece, major characters, an impressive architectural build and a limited-time Grond companion model that could become very desirable in its own right.

Is it cheap? No.

Is it practical? Also no.

Is it magnificent? Very much yes.

The White City has arrived in LEGO form, and for collectors, fans and investors, Minas Tirith could be one of those sets we talk about for years after it retires.

Just maybe don’t ask Denethor for financial advice.
