LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith Rumoured for 2026
Middle-earth looks set to expand once again in brick-built form, with a brand-new LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings set rumoured to be releasing in 2026. Following the successful return of the theme in 2023, LEGO has steadily rebuilt its Lord of the Rings portfolio with large-scale, adult-focused display models designed to appeal to collectors and long-term fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s world.
If current reports are accurate, 2026 will bring at least two major Icons releases tied to Middle-earth. Alongside the previously reported LEGO Icons Sauron Bust (11373), LEGO is rumoured to be working on an entirely brick-built version of Minas Tirith, the legendary White City and capital of Gondor. As one of the most recognisable and narratively important locations in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Minas Tirith has long been considered a “holy grail” build for fans.
What We Know About the Rumoured Minas Tirith Set
At this stage, concrete details surrounding the rumoured Minas Tirith set remain extremely limited. No official set number, piece count, or retail price has been confirmed for the expected 18+ model, which was first reported by the Brick Tap Discord server.
However, several reliable community sources are reporting an early minifigure lineup, suggesting the set will include Gandalf the White, King Aragorn, Pippin, Denethor, and Faramir, alongside three or four Gondor soldiers. If accurate, this would firmly establish Minas Tirith as a minifigure-scale display build, rather than a purely sculptural or microscale model.
Expected Scale, Design Approach, and Piece Count
Based on the reported inclusion of eight or nine minifigures, it’s reasonable to expect a substantial build, likely falling somewhere in the 4,000 to 6,000-piece range. This would place Minas Tirith on a comparable scale to 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr, released in 2024.
LEGO could once again employ a hybrid design approach, combining minifigure-scale interior sections with microscale exterior detailing to convey the sheer size of the city. Given that Minas Tirith rises across seven levels and is carved into the side of a mountain, this technique would allow designers to balance accuracy, stability, and display practicality.
Such a design would almost certainly come with a premium price tag, but recent releases like Rivendell and Barad-dûr have shown LEGO’s willingness to invest heavily in iconic fantasy locations when targeting the adult collector market.
What This Could Mean for Collectors and Investors
If confirmed, a LEGO Icons Minas Tirith would represent one of the most ambitious Lord of the Rings sets ever produced. Large, location-based Icons releases have historically generated strong long-term interest, particularly when tied to iconic scenes, recognisable characters, and limited release windows.
For collectors, Minas Tirith would likely serve as a centrepiece display model. For investors, it would fall firmly into the category of high-cost, high-demand licensed sets that typically require patience but can perform well after retirement if supply tightens.
Final Thoughts
While everything remains firmly in rumour territory, the prospect of a LEGO Icons Minas Tirith in 2026 is an exciting one. If LEGO continues the design and quality standards set by Rivendell and Barad-dûr, the White City could become one of the most visually striking and desirable LEGO Lord of the Rings releases to date.
As always, collectors and investors should treat early information cautiously until official confirmation arrives. If the rumours prove accurate, Minas Tirith is likely to be one of the most talked-about LEGO Icons releases of 2026.
