LEGO Pokémon Rumoured: $650 Kanto Starter Set 72153 with Bulbasaur, Squirtle & Charmander

It looks like Pokémon fans might be in for something truly massive. LEGO has already dipped its toes into the world of gaming crossovers with Nintendo and Sega, giving us Mario builds, retro consoles and even a teased Pikachu set. But now, if rumours are to be believed, the Danish brick giants could be gearing up for their biggest collaboration yet: a LEGO Pokémon set featuring Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander.
LEGO Pokémon 72153 Rumour Details
Reportedly numbered 72153, this set is said to contain a staggering 6,848 pieces and could launch with a jaw-dropping $649.99 price tag. That would make it the most expensive LEGO set ever — yes, even pricier than the Millennium Falcon or Titanic. Split three ways, you’re still looking at over $200 per Pokémon, but for diehard fans and collectors, the chance to build the iconic Kanto starters on a grand scale might just be worth it.
Why the Kanto Starters Make Sense
The original trio of Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander are still the most recognisable Pokémon after all these years, and with a piece count this high, these models are expected to be big, bold and display-worthy. For many collectors, this will be a must-have centrepiece. For kids (and let’s be honest, most 90s kids now too), the price point may sadly put it out of reach — which means sealed copies could end up skyrocketing on the resale market.
More LEGO Pokémon Sets on the Way?
BrickTap also suggests this is only the beginning, with 20 LEGO Pokémon sets planned for 2026, plus additional BrickHeadz or promotional builds released across three waves. If true, it looks like Pokémon fans will finally have plenty of builds to catch.
Waiting for Official Confirmation
Of course, none of this has been confirmed by LEGO yet, so it’s wise to take the rumours with a pinch of salt. But given the excitement already swirling online, don’t be surprised if an official announcement lands soon. Until then, Pokémon and LEGO fans alike will be dreaming of finally snapping those bricks together to build the starters that started it all.
