LEGO Ideas 21370 E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial Pre-Order Now – A Nostalgic Sci-Fi Masterpiece Arrives

The LEGO Ideas theme continues to be one of the most exciting ranges in the LEGO portfolio, consistently transforming fan-designed concepts into highly detailed display models that appeal to builders, collectors and investors alike. From iconic movie moments to beloved television series and instantly recognisable characters, LEGO Ideas has become the home of nostalgia.

In recent years we've seen outstanding releases including Home Alone, The Office, The Insect Collection and Jaws, while the theme has recently enjoyed a fantastic run of nostalgic pop culture builds. First came 21361 Gremlins: Gizmo late last year, followed by 21368 Peanuts: Snoopy's Doghouse last month, and now LEGO is continuing that momentum with the arrival of LEGO® Ideas 21370 E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

For fans who grew up watching Steven Spielberg's timeless masterpiece, this latest release is packed with nostalgia and looks set to become one of the standout LEGO Ideas launches of 2026.

LEGO Ideas 21370 E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

Priced at £119.99 / $139.99, LEGO Ideas 21370 E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is available to pre-order now, with dispatch beginning from 1 August 2026.

Containing 1,226 pieces, the set recreates one of cinema's most beloved extraterrestrials in remarkable detail. The finished model stands over 24cm high, making it an eye-catching display piece that perfectly captures E.T.'s instantly recognisable appearance.

The designers have paid incredible attention to the character's distinctive features, from the textured wrinkles across his body to his expressive face. The model offers a surprising amount of articulation, allowing builders to recreate many of E.T.'s memorable poses.

His head can tilt up and down while rotating a full 360 degrees, his mouth opens and closes, and his arms, wrists and fingers are fully adjustable. Naturally, builders can also position his famous glowing finger as he attempts to "phone home."

One of the set's standout play and display features is the integrated light brick. Simply press the switch on the back and E.T.'s heart illuminates, recreating one of the most emotional moments from the classic film. The included pot of flowers can also be placed in his hands, celebrating another memorable scene as E.T. brings the wilted blooms back to life.

Like many LEGO Ideas releases aimed at adults, the build focuses on delivering a relaxing, immersive construction experience. Whether you're an experienced LEGO fan or returning to the hobby after many years, the included instructions—and LEGO Builder app support—make the process enjoyable from start to finish.

LEGO Ideas Investment Potential

From an investment perspective, the LEGO Ideas theme has developed a strong track record across the LEGO portfolio.

Unlike licensed themes that often receive multiple similar releases, most LEGO Ideas sets are true one-off creations. Once retired, they are rarely revisited in the same format, creating genuine scarcity over time. Combined with relatively modest production runs compared with evergreen themes such as LEGO City or LEGO Star Wars, this exclusivity has helped many retired Ideas sets perform well on the secondary market.

Pop culture subjects have proven particularly successful. Sets based on iconic films and television franchises often appeal to audiences well beyond traditional LEGO collectors, bringing movie memorabilia enthusiasts into the market as well. That broader audience can help sustain demand long after retirement.

21370 E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial has several characteristics we like at Investabrick. It celebrates one of the most beloved family films ever made, delivers an impressive display model aimed at adults, and represents a character that has never previously appeared as a large LEGO build. Combined with the continuing popularity of the LEGO Ideas range, it certainly looks like one worth watching over the coming years. While no investment is guaranteed, this release has many of the ingredients that have helped previous LEGO Ideas sets perform strongly after retirement.
