LEGO 10361 Holiday Express Train: LEGO News, Details & Investor Outlook
Few themes have delivered stronger seasonal returns than the LEGO Winter Village Collection, and this year’s release looks set to continue the trend. The 10361 Holiday Express Train, launching October 4th with early access for LEGO Insiders from October 1st, combines festive nostalgia with LEGO Icons-level detail. With 956 pieces, four minifigures, and an RRP of £109.99 / $129.99, it’s positioned as an accessible seasonal centerpiece with real investment potential.
Winter Village 2025: LEGO 10361 Holiday Express Train Explained
The LEGO® Holiday Express Train features four carriages on a 16-piece circular track:
- A locomotive with a bobbing chimney.
- A coal tender for added realism.
- A flat wagon carrying a bell-ringing polar bear.
- An end carriage with a fully furnished interior.
The set also includes a passenger platform with bench and lamppost, plus miniature toys. For the first time in a retail LEGO set, a 3D-printed train piece is included — a unique selling point for collectors.
Four minifigures round out the display, while LEGO’s Powered Up kit (sold separately) can motorise the locomotive for play value.
At 49 cm (19.5 in.) long, this train is substantial enough to circle a Christmas tree, but compact enough to fit into family holiday displays. The Build Together feature in the LEGO Builder app supports collaborative building, making this set a family activity as well as a collectible.
How It Fits: Icons & Winter Village Track Record
The Icons theme has grown to more than 130 sets since 2012, averaging 11% annualised growth across retired models. But within Icons, the Winter Village Collection stands out. With 12 releases since 2009, from the original Toy Shop to the Alpine Lodge, it has averaged 14% annualised growth — well ahead of the broader theme.
The 10361 Holiday Express Train fits directly into that tradition. Trains and buildings have been perennial favourites in the Winter Village lineup, and both past trains (10254 Winter Holiday Train and 10259 Winter Village Station) have appreciated strongly after retirement.
For investors, that makes 10361 a relatively safe bet: it has nostalgia appeal, clear thematic ties, and a proven category track record.
Investment Outlook
At £110/$130, this is one of the more affordable Icons flagships, but that smaller entry price often fuels stronger percentage gains post-retirement. If history repeats itself, investors can expect double-digit growth in line with the Winter Village average.
Availability will likely run for two to three years, with potential discounts in later holiday cycles. The smart play is to target 20–30% off if possible, then hold long-term. Given past train performance, there’s every chance this set will become a collector favourite once retired.
We at Investabrick also anticipate seasonal GWPs tied to this launch window. With two major festive sets arriving simultaneously, LEGO will almost certainly deploy multiple holiday promos — making October an excellent buying opportunity for savvy investors.
Alternatives This Holiday Season
Alongside the Holiday Express Train, LEGO’s other big release is the 41843 Family Christmas Tree Decoration. Larger and more expensive at £269.99 / $329.99, it serves as a true centerpiece for seasonal displays and represents a new direction for the Seasonal theme.
For smaller, playful options, the 40806 Gingerbread AT-AT Walker and 40809 Festive Gingerbread House deliver festive fun at lower price points. They may not match the long-term growth potential of the flagship sets, but they are excellent complementary buys for collectors building a seasonal display.

Final Thoughts
The 10361 Holiday Express Train is a textbook Winter Village investment: festive, display-friendly, family-oriented, and backed by strong past performance from similar models.
For collectors, it’s a perfect holiday centerpiece. For investors, it’s a relatively low-risk entry into the high-performing Winter Village sub-theme. Add in the expectation of multiple seasonal GWPs this October, and it looks like a strong buy window is opening.
This is one seasonal release worth climbing aboard!
