The LEGO Sonic theme, introduced with the beloved Sonic the Hedgehog sets, brings the fast-paced excitement of the classic SEGA video games to life in brick form. Launched in 2023, these Sonic LEGO sets allow fans to recreate thrilling LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog adventures featuring Sonic, his friends, and his arch-nemesis, Dr. Eggman. The sets have been a hit among both children and nostalgic adult fans who fondly remember the early days of Sonic's high-speed platforming. With dynamic builds and play features, fans can recreate iconic moments from the games, like Sonic battling Dr. Eggman’s schemes. Now, LEGO have released a new set of Shadow the Hedgehog, although this is a set from a relatively new theme, we take a look at it in further detail below:

Set Details

The LEGO® Shadow the Hedgehog (77000) set is a must-have for adult gaming fans who want to celebrate the Ultimate Lifeform in buildable form. This collectible display model perfectly captures Shadow's bold colouring and fierce expression, making it an authentic tribute to the iconic character from the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series. Featuring Shadow’s head, a nameplate, and hidden Easter eggs within the build, it offers an engaging and rewarding experience. While it may have niche appeal compared to broader LEGO themes, the attention to detail and playful surprises makes it a fantastic addition for dedicated Sonic fans or collectors of LEGO busts like the Spider-Man’s Mask, Stormtrooper Helmet and Iron Man Helmet. The final product is sure to stand out in any gaming or LEGO display.

Theme Analysis

It is clearly very early days for the LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog theme with the first sets launched in 2023 and none having retired to date. In general, the theme seems to have been well received and we will start to evaluate it in further detail once some of the earlier sets start to retire. The first retirements will be at the end of this year and likely to be LEGO Sonic’s Speed Sphere Challenge (76990), LEGO Tails’ Workshop and Tornado Plane (76991), LEGO Amy’s Animal Rescue Island (76992) and LEGO Sonic’s Green Hill Zone Loop Challenge (76994).

Conclusion

It’s far too early for us to be considering this from an investment perspective but for Sonic the Hedgehog fans this LEGO Shadow the Hedgehog model is a must from a build point of view and can be purchased at LEGO.com now.
